为了拼凑家族历史的碎片，而展开一趟横跨美国、加拿大、牙买加、香港和中国的寻亲之旅。正步入花甲之年的葆拉•麦迪逊 (Paula Madison)，事业家庭富足美满，人生应了无遗憾，却始终有个渴望在心中不断发芽。母亲去世前留下了一个谜团：1933 年，中国客工罗定朝从牙买加搭船去香港，永别他的牙买加情人与两个混血孩子，他就是葆拉的亲生祖父。在近一个世纪的分离后，葆拉决定不顾地域与肤色差异，与两位哥哥寻找家族中从未谋面的「家人」。在历史的洪流中，客家人的迁徙流离与大时代下颠沛流离的亲情与遗憾，在此片中仅从泛黄照片里出现的两父女——罗定朝及罗碧珊身上呈现。
