When a commercial jet collides with a smaller plane, it causes the airliner's elevators to jam into the full climb position. The increase of altitude will causes the plane to disintegrate in mid-air and will crash if it runs out fuel. With time running out, it's up to the plane's pilot, Captain Glen "Lucky" Singer (Urich), his co-pilot Connie Phipps (O'Toole), Captain George Bouchard (de Lancie), the airline company, the air traffic controllers below, and others to prevent a catastrophe.
