大导演楚原作品中，唯一一部潮语戏曲电影，意义重大。本片是家传户晓之潮剧戏宝，故事背景发生于南宋末年，元军攻陷临安，宋帝南逃至广东崖门，遭逢元军围困，危在旦夕，下诏张达将军(丁敏 饰)起兵勤王。张达之义军遭元军水陆两路封锁，粮水断绝，处境十分危险；其妻陈璧娘(萧南英 饰)闻此骤变，立即定下奇袭元军之计划……
