"In einem Prolog wird gezeigt, wie Abdou in der Schule das erste Mal von Deutschland hört, das Land, gegen das sein „Mutterland“ Frankreich einmal im Krieg stand. Der Lehrer spielt ihnen Beethoven vor. Bei Abdou macht etwas ‚klick' und wir sehen ihn zehn Jahre später als angehenden Biologie-Studenten in München ankommen. Der Film handelt von seinem Leben dort, von Missverständnissen, Freundschaften und Abdous mühsamen Kampf gegen das rückständige Bild von Afrika, das damals wie heute die Köpfe dominiert."
