Lors de la Grande Guerre, le mari d'une jeune femme ravissante et indépendante disparaît. L'armistice venu, la veuve retourne en pèlerinage dans la chambre d'étudiant qu'habitait autrefois son mari. Elle le retrouve là, amnésique et vivant avec son infirmière. La mémoire ne revient pas si facilement il faut un accident d'auto où l'infirmière est tuée pour que le mari, retrouvant ses esprits, redécouvre sa femme.
