Thousands of boys and girls were locked up in boarding schools during the Franco regime and until the first years of democracy. Religious schools, orphanages, tuberculosis preventives or Social Assistance centers became a kind of prisons for these young people. There they suffered physical, psychological, sexual abuse, labor exploitation or questionable medical practices. Today they uncover this hidden and silenced past. Unlike countries like Ireland, which have recognized the abuse of children under their care, in Spain these abuses have never been tried or repaired
