Architect Jasna and her daughter, Nina, are Serb refugees moving to Toronto, Canada in hopes of a better life. They are still under the influence of the many horrors they have seen in their homeland. Jasna’s health is fragile and she has to do lowly jobs to be able to pay her bills. Nina struggles to integrate into high school and faces many challenges. Both mother and daughter need to find a way to improve their own situation without affecting their relationship.
