Clara Horn war einige Jahre in Elternzeit und kehrt nun in ihren alten Job als Krankenpflegerin zurück. Doch kaum angekommen, merkt sie, wie sehr sich die Arbeit verändert hat. Der Arbeitsalltag ist nun deutlich stressiger, dazu kommen noch Zeitdruck und eine enorme Anspannung, weil man sich für die Patienten nicht so viel Zeit nehmen kann, wie man gerne möchte. Aber Clara bemerkt noch etwas: Auf ihrer Station kommt es zu auffällig vielen Todesfällen.
