Ruth reist nach Jerusalem, um ihre Schwester Maria aus der Psychiatrie abzuholen. Von Klinikleiter Peled erfährt sie, dass ihre schwangere Schwester am Jerusalem-Syndrom leidet. Als die besorgte Ruth ankündigt, dass sie die Vormundschaft beantragen und ihre hochschwangere Schwester mit nach Deutschland nehmen will, ist Maria über Nacht verschwunden. Auf der Suche nach ihr geraten Ruth und Peled auf die Spur rabiater christlicher Sektierer.
