Daniël Arends is ‘een dik, klein bruin clowntje’. Althans, dat zegt hij zelf. Maar daarmee doet hij zichzelf tekort. Hij weet wel degelijk de vinger op de gevoelige plek te leggen als het gaat om thema’s als identiteit, hypocrisie en fantasie. Arends ontkracht mythen en creëert ze net zo makkelijk. Carte Blanche is daarmee wellicht zijn sterkste programma tot nu toe, omdat de verwarring net zo groot is als de verwondering.
