Evaristo y Luis Antonio, hermanos indígenas de la Sierra Tarahumara en el noroeste de México, se acaban de graduar del internado. Evaristo desea continuar su educación, llevando una vida bicultural, donde los tarahumaras, o raramuri como se llaman a sí mismos, tengan la oportunidad de seguir aprendiendo a hablar, leer y escribir en español, el idioma oficial mexicano. Mientras tanto Luis Antonio "Tony" está muy feliz de haber terminado con la escuela.
