A trente-cinq ans, Pierre va être père. Il s'émerveille devant le ventre arrondi de son épouse, Cécile, avec tant d'ardeur qu'il déclenche des contractions intempestives. A l'hôpital, où il conduit Cécile, Pierre se retrouve nez à nez avec Isabelle, son ancienne petite amie, jadis partie exercer la médecine à Bogota. Tout juste revenue de son rêve humanitaire et des continents lointains, Isabelle vit pour l'heure dans la précarité. Pierre lui propose de l'héberger. Cécile, alitée jusqu'à la fin de sa grossesse, voit d'un mauvais oeil l'ancien couple se reformer sous ses yeux.
