Am 26. Februar 1920 hatte Robert Wienes weltberühmter Film "Das Cabinet des Doktor Caligari" im Berliner Marmorhaus Premiere. Er gilt bis heute als Manifest des deutschen Expressionismus. Eine Kinolegende und ein Schlüsselwerk der Epoche, in dem sich - wenn nicht alle, so doch sehr viele - Tendenzen des Zeitalters und der Erschütterung des gesellschaftlichen Lebens im Deutschland nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg bündeln.
