Claiming the space

Stories of the paths of independent exhibition culture in the GDR. The Leipzig gallery "EIGEN+ART" provided a free space for GDR art between 1985 and 1989. The "1st Leipzig Autumn Salon" (1984), the gallery of the "Clara Mosch" group in Karl-Marx-Stadt (1977-1982) and, above all, Jürgen Schweinebraden's first private gallery "EP" in East Berlin (1974-1980) developed an enormous degree of exemplary effect and sustainability in a relatively short period of time.
