Right after the declaration of the Greco-Italian War in the tumultuous 1940, Nestor and his friends leave for the front, while at the same time, his sister, Martha, is enlisted in the Hellenic Red Cross, serving as a volunteer nurse. There, Martha will meet Kostas, one of her brother's wounded friends, and before long, the two of them will develop a tender relationship, however, seven months later in German-occupied Athens, Nestor, Martha and a small group of confidants will take part in the Resistance. Excluding Kostas because of his father's shameless collaboration with the enemy, the friends will eventually face incarceration and horrible tortures, as they refuse to betray their country. What future awaits the faithful comrades? —Nick Riganas
