Adrian Scala è un giovane scultore che, fin dalla sua prima esposizione a Roma, viene notato da Gloria, giovane studiosa d'arte e amante dell'importante critico Pietro Lulli che ben presto Gloria lascia per Adrian. Lulli però sembra non volergliene e decide di aiutare la carriera del ragazzo. Ma non tutto è come appare e il gioco delle rivalità sotterranee ben presto comincerà a farsi complesso.
