Appleseed

2131 год. Неядерная война, почти уничтожившая человечество, закончена. Победивших нет. Солдат спецназа Дюнан Нат выжила и при неясных обстоятельствах попадает в город Олимп, ставший центром Земли. Ее бывший возлюбленный Бриареос, приведший Дюнан в Олимп, потерял тело в сражениях за Северную Африку и стал киборгом. Половина населения Олимпа — клоны специально отобранных человеческих особей, кибернетически модифицированных и улучшенных, — биороиды. Их природа такова, что исключает социальные конфликты и нестабильность. Город и его население контролируется правящей верхушкой и Гейа — кибернетическим мозгом. Кто такие биороиды, неужели Олимп — та самая утопия, о которой мечтало раздираемое конфликтами человечество? Или же именно в Гейа нужно искать причины коллапса человечества?

Deunan Knute, a young soldier and one of the Global War's last survivors, is rescued by Hitomi, a Second Generation Bioroid. Knute's escape attempt is stopped by her former lover Briareos Hecatonchires, now a cyborg. She realizes that the war had ended and she is in a Utopian city called Olympus. Its population is half-human and half-Cloning, a genetically-engineered species called Bioroboticss. Olympus is governed by three factions: Prime Minister Athena Areios; General Edward Uranus III, head of the Olympus Army; and a Council of Elders. Everything in the city is observed by an artificial intelligence named Gaia from a building called Tartaros. While there, Deunan joins the counter-terrorism organization ESWAT.

Appleseed se passa num mundo que acabou de sofrer uma guerra não-nuclear, porém esta guerra foi tão longa, que ainda existem soldados pelo mundo que não sabem do fim dela. Um desses soldados é Deunan Knute, a protagonista do filme. No inicio do filme, ela está se defendendo de outros soldados quando um terceiro grupo entra e a captura. Esse grupo pertence a cidade, chamada Olympus que sobreviveu a guerra. A cidade é controlada por um super-computador, Gaia, regido por sete anciões, The Seven Wisest Men. Metade da população da cidade é Bioroid, um tipo de clone, criados para que a sociedade fique mais estável.
