Growing unhappy with the routine of married life and household duties, Myrtle declines her husband's invitation to accompany him on a business trip, and during his absence she accepts the attentions of Philip Gray, her husband's business assistant. Returning unexpectedly, Hill witnesses a love scene between Myrtle and Gray; justly indignant, Hill gets a divorce. Myrtle marries her lover, but when the marriage is a failure Myrtle in desperation commits suicide by drowning. - Awakening from this dream, Myrtle is freed from her unhappiness, resolves to devote herself to her husband, and goes on the trip with him as he has desired.
