Wilhelm Lemke, son of the host couple Lemke, is in a relationship with the buxom kitchen maid Anna, which his solid and down-to-earth mother Else and the strict father are not allowed to know about. When one day she catches Wilhelm and Anna kissing, the young people and mother Lemke have a heated argument, as a result of which the resolute old woman unceremoniously puts the young happiness out on the street. Anna knows what to do and goes with her lover Wilhelm to aunt Maria, who runs a suburban cellar and provides shelter for both of them.
