警視庁に匿名の手紙が届く。手紙には、ホテルコルテシア東京で開催されるカウントダウンパーティー「マスカレードナイト」に、殺人事件の犯人が現れると書かれている。刑事・新田浩介はホテル・コルテシア東京に潜入し、再び働くことになる。そこでコンシェルジュの山岸尚美と出会う。犯人の情報はなく、本人が出席することを除いて、新田浩介刑事は約500人の参加者の中から犯人探しに奔走する。
