Isekai (Japanese: 異世界, transl. "different world" or "otherworld") is a Japanese genre of portal fantasy and science fiction. It's about a person or people who are transported to and have to survive in another world, such as a fantasy world, virtual world, or parallel universe.
Unlike typical Isekai titles where a person from Earth is transported to, reborn, or trapped in a parallel universe or fantasy world, in these anime characters from another world find themselves on Earth through similar means.
Tokyo Revengers (Japanese: 東京卍リベンジャーズ, Hepburn: Tōkyō Ribenjāzu) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Ken Wakui. It was serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine from March 2017 to November 2022, with its chapters collected in 30 tankōbon volumes as of November 2022. An anime television series adaptation produced by Liden Films, aired from April to September 2021. A second season is set to premiere in January 2023. A live-action film adaptation was released in Japan in July 2021, with its sequel set to be released in 2023.
