In 2045, people seek escape from their harsh lives by assuming avatars in a virtual world called OASIS. When the game's eccentric founder leaves his immense fortune and total control over the OASIS to the winner of a three-part puzzle contest he has designed, a young player named Wade tries his hand at the reality-bending treasure hunt.
