Superpowered teens join forces as an unlikely, but formidable crew of aspiring heroes in the Marvel Universe.
Later this summer, Marvel will launch a series of animated shorts titled Marvel Rising: Initiation. These shorts will build up to an animated film, Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors, that will premiere on Disney Channel in the fall. The story centers on teenage superhero Ghost-Spider (a version of Gwen Stacy who has acquired spider powers), who is on the run from the law after being framed for her friend’s murder. Ms. Marvel, Squirrel Girl, Quake, and Patriot are dispatched to bring her in, before they all find themselves teaming up to fight a threat no one had expected. This group of heroes is younger and more inclusive (in terms of both gender and ethnicity) than the mostly white male heroes who dominate the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Kamala Khan is a teenager who is also an Inhumans with Shapeshifting abilities, and lives a secret life in Jersey City, New Jersey as the superheroine Ms. Marvel. She idolizes Captain Marvel (Marvel Comics) and clashes with her mother, who believes her interest in superheroes is time-wasting. Kamala and her best friend Squirrel Girl; a fellow Inhuman known as Squirrel Girl, stop a thief in the park who steals from a food vendor. The thief is Inferno (Dante Pertuz), who can control and manipulate fire. The girls also meet Mandarin (comics)#Victor Kohl, who is tracking Dante and tells them of how he is working to protect Inhumans from their own destructive powers, however, Victor and Dante both flee the scene. Kamala and Doreen are approached by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Daisy Johnson and Patriot (comics), who have also been tracking violent incidents involving Inhumans. The two friends decide to band together to find Victor and Dante and prove that Inhumans should be seen as heroes and not threats.

Ghost-Spider is no stranger to having to balance a secret identity and her normal life, but she's never been a part of a team in this series. Learning to deal with those expectations is a lesson that kids can learn a lot from. Not to mention, Spider-Man has made an entire career of being barely on-time for everything. Luckily for Gwen, she has all of her teammates to help make sure the bad guys see justice. The team might just get to see her perform in the Battle of the Bands too.
The lives of the Secret Warriors are turned upside down when faced with their latest mission: hang out with Shuri, the Crown Princess of Wakanda, and show her what it’s like to be an ordinary teenager. But nothing’s ordinary when you’re dealing with one of the smartest and most famous people on the planet.
Inferno’s powers are stolen by a young and powerful villain and it’s up to the Secret Warriors to defeat their new foe and help their friend. But does Inferno even WANT his powers back? Meanwhile, America Chavez, voiced by Cierra Ramirez (“Good Trouble”), learns a lesson about friendship and family from teammate Ms. Marvel.
