Takumi Fujiwara is a student working as a gas station attendant with his best friend Itsuki. Itsuki is enthusiastically interested in being a street racer.
北関東の名立たる峠道を舞台に、主人公・藤原拓海が父親の愛車、AE86型（ハチロク）スプリンタートレノを駆り、誰の目にも圧倒的に速いと思える車を相手に対等な勝負を繰り広げ、“公道最速”を目指す。
Takumi Fujiwara is a high school student who has been delivering tofu to the resorts in Mt. Akina in his father Bunta's Toyota Sprinter Trueno Toyota AE86. He also works part-time at a gas station where his friend Itsuki, the owner's son and a high school dropout, aspires to be a street racer. Natsuki Mogi, an attractive classmate, smiles as she walks by Takumi, but she has been secretly enjo kosai with a sugar daddy (slang term) who drives a Mercedes.
