The Brazilian version of the Disney Channel premiered in Brazil on April 5, 2001 with the showing of the film "The Lion King", replacing the extinct Disney Weekend. The channel is responsible for bringing Disney Channel's worldwide hit series to the country, in addition to showing original series such as "Que Talento!", "Família Imperial", "Juacas" and "Z4".
